Soldiers lost their loves, as seven others got injured on Tuesday
evening, in the course of repelling a Boko Haram terrorist attack on
their military camp in northern Borno state.
A statement confirming the attack issued by the spokesman of the Army

were killed last night due to poor visibility, when troops of 119 Task
Force Battalion stationed in Kangarwa in Kukawa Local government in
northern Borno State were repelling an attack by Boko Haram terrorists
that extended into the night.
Kangarwa is known to be one of the strongholds of Boko Haram, after
Sambisa forest. hitherto a no go area for any soldier, but the military
recently took over the location, inflicting a deep psychological blow to
the confidence of the insurgents.
According to analysts, the insurgents will continue to remobilize with the aim of recapturing that location, which is a strategic battleground, even as Sambisa remains their fortified sanctuary.
The statement explains that “the attack which started at about
6.30pm, was successfully repelled after about 3 hours of exchange of
heavy gunfire that inflicted tremendous casualty on the terrorists.
“Unfortunately, 2 of our gallant soldiers paid the supreme price,
while 7 were wounded in action. Due to poor visibility, the number of
terrorists killed could not be ascertained for now.
“The bodies of the gallant soldiers and those wounded in action are
being evacuated while the unit is carrying out mop up operation.”
Usman said the support of the Chadian Air Force fighter jets
contributed immensely to the effort to successfully repel the attack.
