Los Angeles - The new Baywatch movie features a "sweet homage" to Pamela Anderson's C.J. Parker.
Pamela,
48, played the bubbly lifeguard in the original television series from
1992 to 1997 and was thrilled to get a call from producers asking her to
take part in the new movie, which stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and
Zac Efron.
She told ET Canada: "They called me to be in the film,
and it was kind of an homage and a sweet thing for them to do. (But) I
shouldn't give too much away!
"Dwayne is the sweetest guy, he's so sweet in person. I guess I had met him plenty of times, but I didn't remember."
Dwayne,
44, previously announced that Pamela would be starring in the movie
with a gushing Instagram post where he wrote: "She introduced the world
to "CJ Parker" and became one of the most iconic characters of a
generation - for the most successful TV show of all time. A pleasure to
welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our #BAYWATCH cast. We
couldn't have made this movie without you. Welcome home. Thrilled you
had a blast with us! (sic)"
The movie about Californian lifeguards has been scripted by Damian Shannon & Mark Swift, while Horrible Bosses filmmaker Seth Gordon has taking on directing duties.
The
story will see Dwayne be a hero once again, as he plays the role of the
lifeguard who has no choice but to team up with a young hunk played by
Zac as they work together to protect a Californian beach from
environmental destruction caused by an oil tycoon.
The film will be released in May 2017.
