The Etsu Nupe made this call when he hosted a special Tafsir and Iftar session on Sunday night to mark Nupe Day celebration.
He charged all Nupe sons and daughters to live peaceably with others wherever they are and be their brothers’ keeper.
He also urged Muslims to take the opportunity provided by the month of Ramadan to pray for the success of Nigeria’s leaders at all levels, adding that the people should work for the progress of the country by shunning all acts that divide the people.
On his part, the state governor urged traditional rulers in the state to use their office to propagate peaceful coexistence in their domains so as to give room for speedy development of the state and the country as a whole.
The governor, represented by the deputy governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, commended traditional rulers in the state for maintaining peace in their areas, even as he urged them to always offer useful advice to the government on the way forward, particularly at the grassroots.
In his sermon, the chief Imam of Bida, Ustaz Adamu Liman-Yakatun, appealed to the people to have the of fear of God and to always remember the hereafter, just as he advised both elected and appointed leaders in the country not to be too engrossed with amassing wealth to the detriment of the people.
“Our leaders should rather focus attention on how to better the lives of Nigerians through the execution of developmental projects,” he said.
